Madani Qaida is a popular primer for learning to read the Quran. Like Noorani Qaida, it teaches the Arabic letters, their sounds, the vowel marks and the basic rules a reader needs before moving to the mushaf. It is widely used in Pakistan and by families abroad, and English editions are available for children who learn more easily with English instructions.
Madani Qaida or Noorani Qaida?
Both books cover the same foundations. They differ in layout, lesson order and how much practice each page gives. Neither is "right" or "wrong": what matters is that the child finishes one primer properly before starting the Quran. If your child's teacher uses one, follow the same book at home.
How to use Madani Qaida
- Learn the letters and their correct sounds.
- Practise joined letter shapes.
- Read short syllables with fathah, kasrah and dammah.
- Add tanween, long vowels (madd), sukun and shaddah.
- Read words and short phrases from the Quran.
Tips for parents
- Listen first, then read: say the sound and let the child repeat it.
- Point to each letter as it is read.
- Do one page well rather than three pages quickly.
- Ask a teacher to check pronunciation every week.
