Hisnul Muslim (حصن المسلم), known in English as Fortress of the Muslim, is a small book of duas and adhkar (remembrances) compiled by Sheikh Sa'id ibn Ali ibn Wahf al-Qahtani. It collects supplications from the Quran and Sunnah for everyday moments: waking up, entering and leaving the home, before and after eating, travelling, morning and evening adhkar, and many more. Its pocket size and clear layout have made it one of the most widely printed Islamic books in the world.
Who is it for?
Hisnul Muslim is useful for adults, teenagers and children learning daily duas. English editions give the Arabic, a transliteration and an English translation for each dua.
How to use it with children
- Pick one dua a week that fits the child's day, such as the dua before eating or before sleeping.
- Say it together at the right moment every day until it becomes a habit.
- Explain the meaning in simple words.
- Keep a list of duas learned, and revise them in the car or at bedtime.
Tips
- Learn the morning and evening adhkar in small sections.
- Read the Arabic, not only the transliteration, as reading improves.
