Juz Amma & short surahs

Surah Memorization Classes for Kids & Adults

Memorize the surahs you need for Salah, Juz Amma or longer surahs you choose, in live one-to-one classes on Zoom with correct Tajweed.

Memorize surahs online with a teacher

Not every student is ready for full Hifz, and many families have a clear, shorter goal: the surahs for daily Salah, the whole of Juz Amma, or a few longer surahs such as Surah Yaseen or Surah Al-Mulk. Our surah memorization classes are built for exactly that. Each student works one-to-one with a teacher who sets small portions, listens to every recitation and corrects pronunciation as the student memorizes.

Memorization apps and charts are useful for practice, but a child memorizing on their own can lock in mistakes. A teacher hears those mistakes in the first recitation and fixes them before they become habits.

Who these classes are for

  • Young children learning their first surahs (surah memorization for kids)
  • Kids and adults who want the short surahs needed for Salah
  • Students who want to complete Juz Amma (Juz 30)
  • Anyone with specific surahs in mind, for example Yaseen, Al-Mulk, Al-Kahf, Ar-Rahman or Al-Waqiah

Which surahs can my child memorize?

Short surahs for Salah

Most children start with Al-Fatiha and the short surahs at the end of the Quran: Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas, Al-Kawthar, Al-Asr, An-Nasr, Al-Kafirun, Al-Fil, Quraysh and Al-Ma'un. These are short and easy to repeat, so they build a child's confidence quickly.

Juz Amma (Juz 30)

Many families set Juz Amma as the first big goal. The teacher works through it in a planned order, usually starting from the shortest surahs, with regular revision of the surahs already memorized.

Longer surahs you choose

Students can memorize specific surahs that matter to the family, such as Surah Yaseen, Surah Al-Mulk, Surah Al-Kahf, Surah Ar-Rahman or Surah Al-Waqiah. Memorizing specific surahs is included in our 45-minute packages.

How the surah memorization classes work

  • The teacher recites a short portion and the student repeats it until it is correct
  • Small daily portions, recited back to the teacher in the next class
  • Correct pronunciation and Tajweed from the first day
  • Regular revision so earlier surahs stay strong
  • Namaz (Salah), Duas and Kalmas alongside, as included in our packages

Classes are live and one-to-one on Zoom. Choose 4 classes a week of 30 minutes, or 5 or 6 classes a week of 45 minutes, at times arranged in your own time zone (24/7 flexible timing).

Progress you can follow

Students are tested every week. Once enrolled, parents receive a monthly progress report on WhatsApp listing the surahs memorized and revised, classes attended, scores and the teacher's notes. When the goal is reached, students can move on to the full Quran memorization (Hifz) program. If reading is still slow, start with the Quran reading classes. See prices on the fees page.

Surah Memorization Classes: questions parents ask

What are the easiest surahs to memorize?

The short surahs at the end of the Quran are usually the easiest: Al-Ikhlas, Al-Kawthar, Al-Asr, An-Nasr, Al-Falaq and An-Nas. Most children start with Al-Fatiha and these surahs.

What is the easiest way to memorize a surah?

Listen to a correct recitation, repeat a short portion (one or two ayahs) many times until it is fluent, then join it to the previous portion. Recite it to a teacher to catch mistakes, and revise it every day for the first weeks.

Which surah should children memorize first?

Al-Fatiha, because it is recited in every unit of Salah. After that, children usually learn Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas.

How can my child memorize Juz Amma?

Work through Juz Amma in small daily portions, usually from the shortest surahs at the end, recite each portion to a teacher and revise the surahs already learned every week. In our classes the teacher plans this order for your child.

What is the difference between surah memorization and Hifz?

Surah memorization covers selected surahs, such as Juz Amma or surahs for Salah. Hifz means memorizing the complete Quran. Many children start with surah memorization and later join the Hifz program.
